The Science

  • Binks et al. (2018) — Applied Animal Behaviour Science

    This study exposed 15 shelter dogs to vanilla, coconut, ginger, and valerian essential oils via scented cloths. Exposure to all four scents resulted in significantly lower levels of vocalizations and movement compared to control conditions.

  • Graham et al. (2005) — Applied Animal Behaviour Science

    This study found lavender and chamomile particularly beneficial for shelter dogs, resulting in more resting and less movement and barking, while rosemary and peppermint had the opposite effect.

  • Howard et al. (2024) — Applied Animal Behaviour Science — "Are smelly toys more fun?"

    When researchers applied each dog's preferred scent to their most and least preferred toys, the addition of scent increased engagement such that dogs spent 4.2 and 13.7 times more seconds with their most and least preferred toys, respectively.

Steady Pets LLC is a now a wholly independent entity from Karman Rubber and maintains separate operations and facilities.

1945

Founding

John R. Mann founds Karman Rubber after 20+ years at B.F. Goodrich and leading the firm's industrial components division through the second world war. The company quickly grows into a being premier supplier.

1970

Recognition for Excellence

Karman celebrates 25 years in business and its international awards for manufacturing precision.

Acquisitions

Karman acquires the Vibro-Insulator®, Vibro-Isolators® Product Line of noise, shock, and vibration controls from the B.F. Goodrich Company — laying the foundation for its future flagship products.

Karman is recognized as a world-leader in rubber-to-metal bonding and the control of shock, noise, and vibration.

Steady Pets

Partnering with chemists, scientists, and machinists, the Karman team develops an advanced line of dog chew toys under the Steady Pets brand name.
